e-gateway: Form Handling Made Easy
e-gateway is a comprehensive SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) emailer for CGI / Web implementation. It is built around a sophisticated email engine that can generate both HTML and ASCII email and encode attachments to the Base-64 standard. It was designed to act as a gateway between the world-wide-web and the email service of the Internet. It is operating system independent and Microsoft Windows® NT compatible.

e-gateway has its' own internal SMTP engine. As a result of this, it does not need an external "sendmail" program (or equivalent) in order to send email. However, e-gateway is able to use "sendmail" if this functionality is required, for total flexibility.

e-gateway is fully compliant with the following standards (where applicable):

  • RFC 1521
  • RFC 1522

e-gateway is totally customisable to match the "look and feel" of an existing website. Using a document template system, you have total control of all output from the application. e-gateway is also extremely configurable, yet easy to get up and running... furthermore, a single instance of e-gateway will handle an unlimited number of forms, each one being individually customisable.

e-gateway is perfect for complicated form parsing, sharing form input with multiple recipients and targeted email delivery (based on the form input or server configuration). The integral Base-64 encoding and attachment functions are ideal for those instances where you'd want to capture user details prior to a software download - with e-gateway, your users complete a simple form and the file(s) are emailed directly to them for the ultimate in simplicity and convenience.
